Improved Clinch Knot

The Improved Clinch knot has been around for a very, very long time. It’s one of the most common knots to use on monofilament fishing line. Very quick and fairly easy to remember. Mono line is not recommended on braided fishing line or anything greater than 25 lbs test.

Before tying your fishing knot you take these steps to increase strength:

  • Get the improved clinch knot wet with water or spit before fully tightening.
  • Get the improved clinch knot as tight as possible.
  • Trim the excess end off the fishing line.
